Zlín expects summer weather, after tropical Friday should follow cooling

14. 8. 2025 - Vojtěch Gargulák

In the recent days, a wave of heat has strucked the Zlín region. That will probably have an impact on the approaching 54. edition of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín. Its visitors will have to prepare for the tropical weather especially on Friday, when temperatures during the qualifying stage and ceremonial start should rise up to 34 degrees Celsius. In the following days, light cooling should come, but meteorologists warn that the weather at the time of the competition could traditionally be very variable.

The unpredictable weather has significantly influenced the previous years of the Barum Rally. A year ago the second pass of Bunč special stage had to be canceled on Saturday due to heavy rainfall, which even caused local floods. Meteorologists do not expect such dramatic conditions this year, but don't rule out partial rain over the weekend.

"During the weekend, we can look forward to sunny weather in the Zlín region, with approximately 22 hours of sunshine. After Friday's tropics, afternoon temperatures should reach 30 degrees on Saturday, and about three degrees lower on Sunday. During Saturday evening or Sunday night, a rain shower could pass through the region," says meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.

Competition crews and their teams are likely to be challenged again in the form of a choice of tyres. As history suggests, the right tyrewear could be the key to success during a challenging competition. Who will have a lucky hand this year? Barum Czech Rally Zlín starts on Friday, and we will know its winner during Sunday afternoon.
