26. 8. 2016 - Petr Říha

Just like last year, the drivers and the fans can expect tropical weather with temperature rising above 30 °C during Barum Czech Rally Zlín. This rally is among the most significant rally events in Europe and in the Czech Republic. The 46th Barum Rally is the eight event of the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) and the fifth event of Auto-club Czech Rally Championship 2016.

In the shadow the temperature will be over 30 °C, and twice as high temperature will be in a cockpit of a racing special. Participants of one of the most star-studded European rally events and the highlight of Czech rally season will have to face such extreme conditions. 'Clear sky is expected on Saturday and Sunday as well. It's going to be quite hot. It will rain in some regions of the Czech Republic on weekend but not in the Zlín Region,' said meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.

Since Friday afternoon, above Zlín the sky is clear and it is warm. On weekend the temperature can rise up to 33 °C in the shadow. 'I highly recommend to stay away from direct sunlight and to use sun cream. In this high temperature, without sun protection and in direct sunlight, the skin get sunburned within half an hour,' warned Dagmar Honsová.

Barum Czech Rally Zlín begins on Friday 26th August at 4 p.m. on náměstí Míru square in front of the Town Hall. Crews will deal with a difficult race of total length 740 kilometres, which consists of 15 special stages on eight sections of length 230 hard kilometres. The 46th Barum Rally opens with a Spectators' Super Special Stage in the heart of Zlín and in the former Bata factory. The three-day long rally ends on a finishing ramp on náměstí Míru square on Sunday 28th August at 4:16 p.m.
